100 Years of Paint in a Few Minutes!

This is a very brief tutorial on how I achieved the look of 100 year old paint. I started with an old wood drawer....notice there is no paint on it...it's "as found".
I applied a very thick coat of paint....in this case Behr "Baja" mixed with Websters Chalk Paint Powder.
I did small sections at a time but this drawer was so small, I could have done it all at once. Apply close and direct heat from your hair dryer. The paint will begin the craze, crackle and bubble. It was the bubble effect I was going for. I blistered this poor drawer.

I repeated the process until the drawer front was completely covered with blisters. I added a second coat of Behr "Sparrow" and repeated the process. (Sorry, no pic).
Then I took my paint scraper and scraped those blisters and bubbles off. They exposed the lighter paint as well as the wood beneath. This time I applied my "dirt" in the form of Ralph Lauren "Tea Stained' glaze. A little dap on the rag, a wipe on and wipe off and done! This drawer now looks like it has been painted and aged with time....shhhh....our little secret!
